A Flower, To Remember – Part I

After Sandra’s passing, many of us had to go on with life. Going back to college was difficult for me, because I’m so used to spending all my time in and after college with her.

The void I felt during that two weeks after her passing was unbearable. But I thank God for the many friends He has blessed me with. They kept me going by holding and supporting me whenever I felt like I was alone.

A week after Sandra left us, a few of us decided to wear a flower in our hair in remembrance of her. Sandra loved pretty hair accessories. The both of us would usually spend hours in Diva just trying on different hair accessories!

Tradition

It has become a tradition for my form 5 classmates and I to go to Ray’s during one of the days of the Chinese New Year. Yesterday was no different.

Ten of us made our way there yesterday, and boy, was it fun. We spent the entire day stuffing ourselves with junk food and drinks (chocolate chip cookies, curry maggi mee, “kai chai peng”, keropok, “bak gua”, sugared candies, pizzas, vegetable soup, kickapoo, twister orange juice, sunkist orange, absolut mango vodka), singing karaoke, playing rockband, playing “chortaitee” and poker.

May, Guan and I have karaoke(d) enough for the year! It was so much fun hanging out with these bunch of people! It’s been 4 years plus since we finished SPM. Time flies. :(

I didn’t do any Chinese New Year shopping this year, and if you have seen my wardrobe, you would realize that I have very minimal clothes in red. So, while cracking my brains trying to figure out what to wear for CNY lunch, I took out my sister’s red smoked tube and played around with it. I figured that it actually looks pretty darn good as a skirt, so I decided to wear it as just that – a pretty skirt.

Reunion – Part I

Hello world!

My Chinese New Year’s celebration has been going great. Have been stuffing myself with food and more food. Definitely have to hit the gym tomorrow.

The family reunions, food and angpaos are the reasons to why I love the Chinese New Year. But the weather, this year especially, is unbearable, seriously. Stepping out of the house, shopping mall or anywhere air-conditioned is almost equivalent to stepping into an oven!

Anyway, as per usual, on the first/second day (Chor Yi) of the New Year, my family will head over to my Aunt (Ku Ma) and Uncle’s (Ku Cheong) house, from my dad’s side of the family.

Most of my cousins who work overseas would be back.

So, here’s the latest addition to the family, Joshua Lum Wei Liang.
He’s 8 months old now and boy, does my dad look very happy
carrying his grand nephew in his arms.

My parents and baby Joshua. They looked so happy, so I told them
to get another kid. They gave me the look and told me they’re
waiting for their grandchildren.

Haute

Once upon a time, while strolling along the streets of Plaza Damas, Riz and I stumbled upon this quaint pretty little cafe called The Haute Food Co.

Eka joined us a little later, and together, we decided to give it a try, and it was one of the best decisions we have ever made! The food there is fantastic, especially their Chicken Mayo Basil Sandwich, Smoked Chicken and Cheese Sandwich, Raspberry Cheese Cake, Sticky Date Pudding, Apple Crumble Pie and the Raspberry Lemon Mint Soda.

Ever since that fateful day, I never looked back. The Haute Food Co has become my favourite little cafe!

On Wednesday, I brought Wei Xiong, Alicia, Julia and Chee Pang to the cafe because I know the coffee beans they use are from Australia, and Wei Xiong is a coffee addict!

We had a good time talking, eating and laughing (mostly at Chee Pang). Spent almost the entire afternoon at the cafe, and we made so much noise!

And oh, the chef/person-who-runs-the-cafe is super nice and friendly! And she is a brilliant cook!

I’m craving her sandwiches now! The soda as well!

We headed back to Ju’s after our visit to The Haute Food Co. and spent our time talking about everything under the sun and watching Friends! My all-time favourite series.

I love them to bits and am gonna miss Wei Xiong and Alicia so much when they fly back to Melbourne.

I’m currently packing right now. Dislike packing with a passion. I’m off to Malacca for Acts Church’s Campus Camp tomorrow. Will be back on Sunday. So, till then my loves.

P.S :// It’s been 23 days since you’ve been gone. I miss you, my darling Sandster.

I wore this ensemble on Sunday. Those sneakers may look comfy, but don’t be deceived! They cause blisters if worn for too long. And that skirt was bought by mom when she was in her twenties. I love it, and have been wearing it over and over again. I love hand me downs. :)

Sandra used to encourage me to post pictures of my outfits. Whenever I wore something she liked, she would pester me to take a picture and post it up. She always encouraged me, telling me I look good even in the most outrageous outfits I come up with. But of course, there are times when she just goes, “what are you wearing??? I don’t like…” and I would reply defensively, “well, I LOVE IT” and then she says “okay lah, as long as you like”.

I don’t tell very many people what I want to do in the future, because I have this fear of not being able to achieve my dream. The competition is high, and sometimes, I feel like I’m just not good enough. Sandra knew how I felt, and she would always give me the support and encouragement to boost my confidence, to push me towards my goal.

She’d say things like, “oh my gosh, you’re so good at what you do, you know? Seriously…”. The sound of her voice still rings so clearly in my head.

When I close my eyes, I am able to remember the way she talks, the way she moves, the things she does. She has this habit of calling me with different names each time she sees me, but the most common would be “CRISPYYY!” or “KWISPYYY!” and when she is about to nag me, she goes “CRISPY CREME!!!”. And then there’s “cheesepie” and the list goes on.

It hurts inside each time I think of the fact that she is no longer here, with me. I know people tell me to be strong and that Sandra wouldn’t want me to be sad, but, it’s easier said than done.

When I am out, I can easily put on a facade; pretend that I’m okay. But deep down inside, my heart, it aches. Painful.

This is for you, Sandster. I love you.

A Broken Heart That’s Still Beating

A few days after Sandster’s birthday, I remember her telling me that she gave away quite a few CDs to a few of her friends during her Birthday BBQ Party in Malacca.

And then she said, one of the CD she gave away was the Coldplay X&Y Album to which I replied in a whiney voice, “WHYYY SANDRAAAA??? I WANTTTT!!! I LOVEEE COLDPLAYYY!!!”. Sandra then showed me a sad face and said, “I’m sorry, I didn’t know”, and i replied, “nevermind lor” and we left it at that and talked about something else.

In the novel P.S. I Love You, you find that after the husband’s death, the wife began receiving letters and gifts from him. I feel like I am able to relate to the wife, the way she felt when she received those notes and presents, after he was gone.

During Sandra’s wake, Sheryl (a friend of Sandra whom I met during dinner at Popeye’s with Sandra quite a while back) came up to me saying, “Christine, Sandra has something for you”. My heart sank.

I followed Sheryl to her table, and she started rummaging through her bag. After a few seconds, she took out something that looked like a CD to me. Sheryl turned to me and said, “Sandra told me she wanted you to have this”. I took the CD, looked at it, and it was the Coldplay X&Y Album. I broke down.

I had forgotten completely about the conversation we had about the CD, but Sandra did not. She knew I wanted it, and made sure I received it. She always gave me what I wanted. She always gave me the best, as a friend. Each time I look at the CD, I cannot help but cry.

I came back to KL after her funeral. I was searching through my phone inbox and found a message from 33668 which I had completely forgotten about. Sandra won me two invites to the screening of The Tooth Fairy. I remember her telling me that she would go with me.

I contemplated whether or not to go. I didn’t want to go because I was afraid that it would be too painful not having her watch the movie with me. But deep down inside, I know she would want me to watch and enjoy the show.

I decided to attend the screening.

In the morning, on the day of the screening, I skipped one class and headed to Blu Inc to collect the tickets. After classes in the afternoon, I went out to photostat the tickets, because I was afraid the cinema officers wouldn’t allow me to keep the originals. I was thinking, if that happens, at least I would be able to keep the copies I made.

Jeelian went on behalf of Sandra, and I’m glad she did. It would have hurt too much to go alone. We arrived at the cinema entrance, and I saw Judy and Jamie (Sandster’s cousins). We took out our tickets and exclaimed, “SANDRA!” and hugged one another. She won them tickets too. That’s how amazing Sandra is. Always giving, always loving.

Whilst lining up to buy popcorn, I saw Joel (Sandster’s cousin) and he asked me if I was alone. I replied, “no, but Sandra was supposed to come with me tonight”. He smiled and decided to take a photo of us and the tickets our beloved Sandra won for us.

I enjoyed the show very much and Sandra was in my mind the entire time. Each time I laughed, I would think to myself, Sandra would LOVE this movie. If only she was here.

During our first Intercultural Communication Class last Tuesday (before Sandra’s accident), I texted Sandster in the morning asking her where class is and I told her I was going to be late because of the traffic jam. When I arrived in class, she was no where to be found. Ten minutes later, she enters class. And I thought I was late.

After class, Ms.Brenda Danker, our lecturer, asked the latecomers to see her. She told us to write our details on a piece of paper together with what we want to do in the future; our ambition and dreams. I didn’t have a piece of paper, so I called out to Sandster saying, “Sand, do you have paper? Can give me one please?”. She answered me with a smile on her face, “I only have one. I’ll share with you k?” and then proceeded to tear the small piece of paper into two.

We sat down together, and wrote down our details and our dreams.

Who would have known, whatever she wrote on that piece of paper will never come to pass.

After Sandra’s passing, during a class which I did not attend (I skipped the class to collect the movie passes), Ms.Brenda talked about Sandra and returned the piece of paper she wrote on, to Ash.

Ash saw me, passed me the piece of paper and told me I should have it. I took it, and held it tight. I waited until I was ready before I opened it to read.

I will keep it with me, always.

After our last class (Theories in Media) together, last Tuesday, we were supposed to sign on our attendance sheet. Sandra had memorized my student ID number from the beginning of time.

I turned to Sandra and said, “Sannnddd, help me to sign please. I’m very lazy”. She took out a pen and replied in a very cheery voice, “okay!”. So, she wrote my student ID number, my name and signed, right below her name.

I came back to class this week, and cried when I looked at the attendance sheet. My name, my ID number and signature in her handwriting.

Sandra sends me emails every now and then. But because I’m not an email person, I don’t always read all my mails.

I still have ONE unopened email from Sandra Wong May Yue.

I will keep it, until I’m ready to read it.

I remember, always talking to Sandra about Andrew, a good friend who passed away in April 2008.

She would always tell me, “It’s so sad and tragic, isn’t it? He was soooo young”. And then, she would cheer me up.

Who would have known, Sandra was gonna leave me, like how Andrew did.

She Wins

Sandster taught me her secret techniques to winning merchandises, tickets for movies and concerts and just about everything under the sun. But somehow, as much as I try, I still can't seem to win things the way she does. I tried so hard for Jason Mraz, but won zilch tickets. Sandy loves me and knew how much I wanted to watch Mraz perform live, so she sacrificed her ticket for me. She went to the Pavillion to kill time while I enjoyed myself listening to Mr. A-Z. She gave me her ticket for my first concert ever. I will never ever forget that.

And just in December, she told me I could win two free passes to attend the premier of Toothfairy starring The Rock. She gave me the instructions, and I obeyed. Voila, I won two free passes. The show premieres on the 19th January, this coming Tuesday, and she was supposed to be my date for the night.

Now, she's gone. I have no Sandy Poo to watch the movie with. She won me the tickets, and I am so ever grateful to her. I wish I could trade now. Those movie tickets for Sandra.

I grieve. I'm broken.

Without You

Sandster, I'm in your favourite town now. But I guess I'm a bit too late. You're no longer here. You didn't keep to your promise - Jonkers Street. But I visited Jonkers Street yesterday anyway, since you talked about it all the time. Almost everything there reminded me of you, especially when I passed by the Satay Celup shop.

And guess what you Media Student? You made it into the newspaper! Page 3 somemore! Yesterday, was the NST, today The Star! Here's the link : Making others happy - even in her death.

I am so proud of you! And yes, you were such a giving person. You always put other people before you. I remember you telling me about wanting to be an organ donor, and you asked me if I wanted to join you. I never thought of it seriously, because I thought you and I had all the time in the world. I thought you and I were gonna conquer the (media) world. You promised.

I finally met Yvonne, Judy, Joel, Anson and the rest of your cousins and friends you always talked about. And thank you for telling them about Mel and I. To meet your cousins and friends, and to hear them say, "Sandra always talked about you", gives me the confidence that I meant something to you.

I met Jacqueline, and she told me you make her read my blog, haha. So typical of you, Sandster. And you told everyone I love fashion. Sandra, I don't know what to make of you. You are the most amazing, appreciative, beautiful, sweet, thoughtful, kind and selfless friend I've known.

It pains me so bad to know that I wont have you with me anymore. No one to rant and complain to during classes anymore. No one to confide in anymore (you know my deepest darkest secrets). No one to eat good food with me after classes anymore. No one to accompany me go shopping at Telawi and Forever 21 anymore. No one to send me random blogshop links anymore. No one to find cheap bargains for me anymore. No one to nag me when I'm driving on the road anymore. No more "ang ku ne ne bu cha ko" and all that random gibberish you speak when you panic. No more making you enter the same fitting room as me. No more forcing you to buy pretty dresses that make you look hot. No more calling your mum and telling her, "Aunty, Sandra don't want to buy the dress!". No one to tell me their never ending family stories anymore. No more long-winded lectures about how awesome Malacca is. No more sending you back to Jalan Kasah. No more morning text asking, "SAND, WHERE IS CLASS??". No more fun sleepovers.

I'm sorry we didn't get to purchase the Victoria Secret spray. I know you really wanted it.

I still find it incredibly difficult to come to terms with your passing. Twenty One. You had your whole life ahead of you, Sandster. If only you listened to me and stayed on in KL.

First, it was the three of us. Then Melanie flew off. I felt sad, and you said I'm not alone, because I have you. And then, you leave unexpectedly. Now, it's just me and the world. Sometimes, I can't help but to feel upset and angry. I wish I walked you to KPD A on that Tuesday afternoon. I wish I had said more on Tuesday to stop you from getting onto that bus back to Malacca. I wish you listened to me, and just stayed over my place.

Sandra, I don't know how to deal with this. Most of the time, when I face a problem, I have you. You would help me master a plan, to solve the problem. But from now onwards, I have to do it on my own.

I'm in pain. Your passing has left a big huge void in my heart, in my life. It is going to be a very long road to recovery. I don't know how. I wish you were here.

You are beautiful, both inside and out. I wish I had more time with you. You taught me so many things, through the way you lived and loved. You are my confidante, and always will be. Thank you for letting me know that it is possible to win tickets for almost anything and everything. You are amazing in the most unique way. I wish I could tell you this in person. What a great friend I have found in you, and you are definitely for keeps (as well as the many nicknames you’ve given me). And a promise is a promise. I love you, best friend.

My hope is in Jesus Christ. And I know, Jesus loves you.

Wow, can you believe it? It’s the last day of the year 2009 already! How fast does time fly? It feels like, the older you grow, the faster time passes you by. I remember ushering in year 2009 so vividly like as if it happened yesterday.

Flashback :// Josh booked a suite at Pacific Regency, and a whole bunch of us packed our bags and enjoyed the night in the massive suite. Whilst the rest were up and going, I spent half the time lying in bed because I was suffering from food poisoning from the Penang trip we went on. I couldn’t stop throwing up.

However, I made myself go up to Luna Bar for the countdown with the rest despite feeling weak and looking horrible, and it sure was worth it. It was such a surreal moment, ushering in the new year with my closest friends!

Yih Khai told me that at the end of each year, he would label the year with an adjective to well… describe how the year was, for him. It got me thinking. If I have to label the year 2009, it would be - a year of change. In many ways, the events that took place within the year made me stronger, gave me a different perspective on life and made me grow up.

I stepped out of my comfort zone, and ventured into a completely new and foreign environment. It was scary, but I knew I had to do it, and I am glad I did it, because everything’s good now. If the old don’t go, the new can’t come.

It is the 31st of December 2009, 2.54am and I am feeling nostalgic and sad because the year is coming to a close. I don’t know why I’m feeling this way. I wish I could stop time and just live in the moment.

The dress belongs to my mum. If I’m not wrong, she bought it way back in the day when she was holidaying with my Dad in the UK. My mum always had a great sense of style. I wish she didn’t give away 3/4 of her old clothes.

Shine Your Light – Part I

I was given the ultimate priviledge to be apart of the Lightbulb Productions Team to perform for The AYA Awards 2009 at Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Center.

We started practices only three weeks before the event, and while it was crazy sacrificing most of our nights practicing till one ish two in the morning, brainstorming for ideas and moves, I have to say it was an incredibly fun and exciting journey for me.

I got to know the rest of the dancers a lot of better, and they are one of the most humble and talented team I have ever worked with. I felt very comfortable and at home during practices, and I’m glad I was given the opportunity to dance with each and everyone of them.

A Star Studded Evening

HELP’s ADP and Bachelor of Communication annual ball was held last Friday night at Impiana KLCC Hotel and Spa. The ball was themed Strass Et Paillettes – all things (events) glitz and glamour.

I made my way to Julia’s at one o’clock in the afternoon to get ready. We rushed to Mid Valley to do some last minute shopping – bobby pins! Got back to her place, washed up, did our hair and make up, put on our dresses and VOILA! We were ready to hit the red carpet!

We left the house at around six in the evening. We arrived at the hotel shortly and were greeted by the lovely receptionists – Abby, Andy and Grace. Everyone looked incredibly stunning.

Our table was strategically located at the center, right behind the VIP’s table. We chose the table, and I’m glad we did. Towards the end of the ball, they opened up the dance floor, and we danced for a bit before heading up to the room Riz booked for the night to change into our after-party dresses!

Speaking of dresses, a few weeks before the ball, I went dress hunting with Grace and Sandra, and I tried on a long-sleeve short bodycon dress in MNG and fell head over heels in love with the dress, but decided against buying it. I went home, but couldn’t get my mind to stop thinking about it. So, three days before the ball, I decided to buy the dress for the after-party (a very good reason)!

So, we changed and headed to Space for our after-party! I had a fabulous time dancing and grooving to the music! After a few hours, I began feeling unwell, so I left the place, away from the loud music to rest. The rest came out after a while, and we headed to a mamak stall to eat.

At about five something in the morning, we decided to call it a night and returned to the hotel. About eleven or twelve of us cramped in a room, and most of us fell asleep at dawn.

So, I attended the All-American Rejects concert and even though I’m not crazy over them like how Julia and Debbie are and I don’t know many of their old school songs, I still had an incredibly good time.

I love attending concerts, because I can groove to the music, jump around and scream my lungs out without having other people think I’m a serious nut case. Very liberating.

I’ve been searching for a bandage dress like the black one above! I just love the fact that it hugs your body but hides all your hideous love handles!

I’m gonna be doing some cutting and tearing soon. Love the idea of wearing torn skinny denim! I’ll start off with the knee area!

I want this super sick two-tone leggings!

The item on top of my want list is this pair of Acne Platform Shoes! I’ve been dreaming about it day and night. I wish I have sufficient moolah to buy it, sigh. Too bad I don’t live in America. Mels, please get me a pair before you come back to visit. I know you love me. :)

I’ve been doing a lot of shopping lately, and it has burned a super massive black hole in my purse. To survive for the next half a month, I’m gonna have to pinch pennies and work. Sometimes I wish money grew on trees. The day that happens, my father would be a happy man.

I’ve been packing on the pounds, therefore, I have made a resolution to eat healthy, work out and tone up! The one million and two sushi(s) I consumed a few hours ago did not help. I blame Sandra for being such a Master of Persuasion. Zan ought to give you a big fat A for Persuasion In The Media, seriously. She convinced me to abandon my jogging plans for an hour of sushi stuffing. I regretted. Just kidding.

So, back to what I was saying (more like typing), I have been running quite a bit lately and it makes me feel really good. Instead of leaving my gym membership to rot, I am now putting it to good use. Mother is gonna be very proud of me.

And oh, I had a haircut. Think Cleopatra.

Ranting ahead.

I cannot wait till this whole renovation thing is over. It's causing a lot of stress and discomfort. I'm hoping that it'll be done by tomorrow. My room parquet has been re-shellacked, and the smell is choking and overwhelming!

And I've been going to Ikea so many times, it's not funny anymore. Choosing curtains and beds isn't as easy as I thought it would be. I bought white curtains, but figured that it is too transparent, so I'm going to be heading back to Ikea in a bit to buy another one. And curtains don't come cheap!

I love my room colour. Very glad I picked those shades of pink, instead of maroon and red (eventhough red would be radical and awesome). I want my room back already.

Makeover

This blog is close to dead, haha. Sorry, but I think I've lost the mojo to blog, and I've also been busy.

So, my house (my room included) is undergoing a minor renovation, and it is making my life pretty difficult and inconvenient. Cannot enter room, cannot sleep in room, cannot take clothes from my sealed up closet, cannot use my bathroom. It's getting annoying and the entire house smells like paint, and everything is so dusty! It's been going on for almost 3 weeks! I hope it gets done soon.

But, the bright side is, my room is currently undergoing a major makeover. I've decided on the colours that are to be painted on my room walls. Three walls will be painted light pastel pink, and the feature wall is gonna be a darker shade of pink. I was actually contemplating between dark pink, bright red and deep maroon. I decided on the first. The workers are currently painting my room now, and so far so good. Lets hope I won't regret my decision.

I got new windows too, which is really awesome. I like it, because it is less dusty and easier to open as compared to the previous ones. And one more thing, my mum, sister and I are currently bed hunting. We went to a few furniture shops, and I've set my eyes on two beds from Ikea so far. One is white and one is black. I'm having a difficult time trying to decide on which I should pick. I hate dilemmas.

I made that belt quite a while ago, and I love it! It is so versatile because it goes with almost all of my outfits. Now, the dress. Isn’t it a beauty! It used to belong to my mum, but it is now mine! I matched the dress with a few accessories, including my mum’s precious white pearls. The pearls are so delicate and pretty, each time I hold it, I have to make sure that I am extra gentle and careful. Too bad I didn’t take a close-up shot of it. Maybe some other time.

AIM Reunion

After a whole long year since our last meet up, my AIM buddies and I finally had a reunion! Time flies. It has been more than 3 years since we sat in the same classroom studying the bible together and taking exams, laughing and bickering over anything and everything, practicing our singing and guitar/piano playing, drama and mime acts and dance pieces. Those were good times. We managed to build friendships that have lasted up till now, and I believe will go on for a lifetime.

I watched the trailer on Mel's blog, and decided to put it up here as well. The movie is called The Time Traveler's Wife and I really wanna watch it! Here's a brief synopsis of the show I got from IMDb :

A Chicago librarian suffers from a rare genetic disorder that sends him hurtling through time whenever he is under extreme duress; despite the fact that he vanishes at inordinately frequent and lengthy intervals, he attempts to build a stable future with the beautiful young heiress he loves. Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams star in this dramatic fantasy, which is directed by Robert Schwentke and based on the best-selling book by author Audrey Niffenegger.

Clare has been in love with Henry her entire life. She believes they are destined to be together, even though she never knows when they will be separated: Henry is a time traveler--cursed with a rare genetic anomaly that causes him to live his life on a shifting timeline, skipping back and forth through his lifespan with no control. Despite the fact that Henry's travels force them apart with no warning, Clare desperately tries to build a life with her one true love.

One of the soundtracks in the movie is the song "Broken", sung by the band Lifehouse, and it makes me want to watch the show even more because the song reminds me of Andrew. I remember, it was played during his wake, and I would come home after that and play the song over and over again, crying and regretting the things I failed to do as a friend. It has been more than a year now, and I still miss that boy dearly and deeply.

You know, on facebook, there is this little section that allows you to see who has (virtually) poked you.This is mine. And I will never ever remove it. It may seem small and insignificant to some, but, it reminds me of him, and that makes me glad.

It’s the little details on the dress that made me buy it, especially the slight “layering” that is going on at the bottom. The bottom hem at the back of the dress is slightly longer than the front. Pushing The Limit

My current shoe purchase is on its way! Gonna get them on the 28th, once I have sufficient cash on my hands. They are gorgeous and they look something like this :

The straps are thicker though. I love the warm brown colour, the height of the heels (the higher the better), the platform beneath the sole, the way the straps wrap around my feet, and how surprisingly comfortable it is. It makes me feel like I’m on cloud nine. I’m elated!

Moving on. I had dance training in the morning, and I managed to learn quite a bit. All my life, I have been dancing ballet and through the years of performing and training, I have learned to incorporate jazz, hip hop and contemporary into my dance pieces. Having said that, hip hop and break dancing, which are both interlinked, have always fascinated me. But because I don’t have the courage and the upper body strength that is required to breakdance, I never ventured into that area of dance. The furthest I went was learning to do the “freeze”.

As I watched the other dancers strut their stuff by throwing themselves on the floor, doing tumbles and flips, elevating their entire body with one arm, spinning on their heads and moving from one corner to another so swiftly and smoothly as a result of having perfected various complicated footwork, I have to say, I was thoroughly impressed.

I don’t think the fear I have of breaking bones will ever go away, but I would love to be able to breakdance one day. I shall take this as a challenge and see how far I can push myself. In fact, I learned the “6 step” today (which is relatively one of the easiest and most basic move), so, kudos to me! Haha!

I also found one of my dad’s old blazer from Poland, but unfortunately, it’s too big for me. Such a waste, because if not, I’d be able to attempt the androgynous look. United In Red!

Manchester United in Malaysia.

I, along with 50,000 (the crowd was larger than that of Chelsea’s training, which I attended) other crazy Manchester United supporters attended their training session at Stadium Bukit Jalil, earlier today. The United team were scheduled to start their training session at 5.30pm, but, Chad and I decided to go slightly earlier to avoid the crowd and jam. We reached the stadium at approximately 3.30pm only to find the place already jam-packed. We quickly rushed into the seating area to find good seats.

After finding pretty decent seats, the torturous waiting began. The weather was incredibly hot, humid and hazy. For a moment, I thought I was gonna faint due to the heat and dehydration. (The security crew did not allow us to bring in our water bottles, because they were afraid that we might throw our bottles at Rooney and friends out of hatred.)

Whilst waiting for the United team to arrive, we watched the Malaysian football team train. Here is a gist of what happened during the entire session ; when the striker misses a goal, an uproar (of BOOS) can be heard from miles away, but when a goal is scored, all you can hear is stone silence. That, my friend, is called Malaysia Boleh!

As the clock ticked, my anticipation and excitement began to grow stronger. Suddenly, a pandemonium broke out and people were cheering their hearts and lungs out. I turned towards the tunnel area to look, and and and…. I saw Paul Scholes! The perpetual screaming and cheering grew thunderous as Giggs, Nani and the rest of the team made their entrances.

I got the privilege to watch the players “up-close”, thanks to the binoculars I borrowed from Kester. It was so incredibly surreal and thrilling to see the Manchester United players in the flesh.

The wait was definitely worth it. Can’t wait for tomorrow’s match!

And oh, extra information (that you most probably wouldn’t want to know) :
1. Macheda is VERY handsome! Who needs Ronaldo, yuck!
2. Owen made his debut appearance with the team today, and he is looking oh-so-fine!

Update :// The memorial service was truly one that was heartfelt and emotional. An outpouring of emotion, I believe, was felt during the service (even I couldn't hold back my tears), as Michael's closest friends and family members took the stage to perform and deliver their eulogies.

My favourite part was when Lionel Richie sang "Jesus Is Love" and Jermaine Jackson (MJ's brother) sang Michael's favourite song, "Smile", from the Charlie Chaplin movie "Modern Times".

Sheila Jackson Lee reminded the people that even though Michael Jackson had to deal with many allegations of child abuse and what not, but, "we understand the Constitution, and we understand laws, and we know that people are innocent until proven otherwise. That is what the Constitution stands for". The sad thing is, the media loves to focus on all the allegations and always fail to remember that MJ was acquitted of all charges.

Paris, MJ's daughter sealed the deal when she gave a short but heart-breaking statement. While choking back tears, Paris told the world that, "ever since I was born, daddy has been the best father you could ever imagine. I just want to say I love him so much".

The service ended with a final meaningful prayer said by Pastor Lucius Smith.

After so many years of scrutinizing and judging Michael Jackson, and now that he has passed on, it really is time the media stop spreading propaganda and rumors about him, lay their hands off his family, and allow them to grieve privately.

Went out with the best friend and we spent the entire night talking about Michael Jackson. Like I said before, I was never a big fan, until now. After his death and being constantly bombarded in the face with Michael Jackson news, I find myself downloading and listening to all his songs, watching all his music videos and reading news and updates on him.

I actually really really LIKE his music, especially a few of his big-time famous hits, namely, Billy Jean and Beat It and the not so popular ones like Man In The Mirror, Scream (he collaborated with his sister, Janet Jackson) and Earth Song.

It is so sad that only after his death, I’m beginning to appreciate his music. And oh boy, he was such an AMAZING dancer. He perfected the moonwalk (I attempted the moonwalk and failed, haha) and definitely took dance to a complete different level. Gosh, he is just so mighty brilliant when it comes to performing!

I can’t stop listening to his songs and watching his music videos! Above is a video of MJ executing the moonwalk and below is a video of him performing with full confidence at the tender age of ten! (I stole it from Dina’s blog)

I think many people have misunderstood Michael Jackson (thanks to the media). In my opinion, he was a grown man who was a child at heart, having been deprived of a childhood. He was confused and was constantly searching for greater meaning and purpose in life, but I guess he never found it. So sad and tragic. I love MJ. :(

When Pastor Sivin Kit shared his message during the wedding, he said he read a message on twitter posted up by someone, and it read ;

“We not only mourn the death of Michael Jackson,
but we also mourn the culture that destroyed him.”

I was never a big fan of Michael Jackson, but I can’t help but feel sad as I watch the documentaries and news of him being showed on television. The constant pressure he was put under as a result from the all the media and public scrutiny, I believe, contributed to his fall from grace, and even his death.

Michael Jackson once had all the fame and fortune others can only dream of having, but none of those could buy him true happiness, peace and joy. It is so sad to know that a man who had so much to offer (he had immense talent) lived such a troubled, tragic and lonely life. Sigh.

I think that Raquel Allegra is an absolute genius for coming up with the brilliant idea of reinventing old tees by shredding them. Because of her, shredded tees are currently taking the fashion world by storm. I have to admit, these ripped tees are mighty cool, and what’s even better is, everyone can own one or more for free! All you have to do is learn the correct technique of shredding (go on YouTube to search for the tutorials), do it yourself and voila! - you are ready to go!

Don’t mind me, I feel like typing and letting out my frustrations.

School was kinda sucky in the morning. I guess it is just one of those days, whereby, you wake up feeling horrible. Sandster and I were sulking over the fact that Mel left us.

But things took a turn in the afternoon, when Sand, Chan, Jo and I were in the DSA attempting to study. Sand and her classic antics, made me laugh till my belly hurt. Sigh, things are a little different now. Mel is the missing link! We miss you, Smelsy!

It Is A Revolution

With plenty of unsettled issues and burdens in my heart, I attended the Revolution Conference hoping to experience and encounter God.

On the very first night, Pastor Sandra spoke on allowing God to renovate our lives so that He can work within and through us. She introduced the term "FRU" to us :

F: We are Forgiven and we should Forsake our old ways.
R: The need to Renovate and Revive our hearts, and to live Radically for Him.
U: To have Unwavering faith Until we meet God face to face.

After listening to her speak, I had my mind made up. I was tired of the cycle of drifting away from God and coming back to Him. I wanted to encounter God, but I didn't want it to just be another 20 minute emotional experience for me. I wanted a life-changing encounter with God. I wanted to have the unwavering faith Pastor Sandra was talking about.

I responded to the altar call that night, with many unresolved matters still in my heart. I cried out to him, and when Pastor Sandra prayed for me and told me to “LET GO”, I did. God broke me.

What an amazing start to an awesome conference. The conference went on, for another two days.

On the last and final night, Pastor Kenneth took over the pulpit and preached on revival. In the past, I've heard the word "revival" being used so many times, so much so that I didn't know what the word truly meant anymore.

But Pastor Kenneth reminded me when he said: "Revival comes within a sense of reality. The reality of God is beyond any other reality." It hit me, hard. We can and will experience the reality of God when we are in His presence. And in His presence, there is power, peace and anointing that will break every yoke in our lives.

And when revival takes place, people will respond, there will be real repentance, there will be radical commitments and a REVOLUTION will happen.

What an amazing conference it was! I learned a lot and still am learning, to walk with Him faithfully and to live a radical life for God! Oh, church today was awesome! Elder KY preached a fantastic sermon based on 2 Samuel 13.

And also, I am able to relate to the pastors and leaders of Acts Church, because they are so real, genuine and in Julia’s words, down-to-earth. They are so God-driven, and it amazes me, the way they serve and live for Jesus with zeal. That ought to be the way. Pastors and leaders should be Jesus-centered and humble, NOT tyrannical, money hungry and status obsessed.

I am excited about the work God has begun in my life and the lives of others. What God starts, he will continue and finish! We are the revolution.

It baffles me, how a person can continuously steal another person’s virtual personality but remain completely ignorant about it. These people shall be labeled as the Virtual Personality Suckers (VPS).

What and Who are Virtual Personality Suckers?
(This is a guide that will assist you in identifying whether or not you fall under the VPS category)

1. VPS are completely unoriginal (duh).
2. VPS read another person's blog post and go on to reproduce an almost-identical one.
3. VPS channel thoughts and ideas stolen from other people into their own blog posts without stating the source.
- by doing so, they commit the crime of blatant plagiarism.
4. VPS DO NOT create their own blogging style, but instead, steal from other bloggers and TRY to make it their own.
- they steal other bloggers’ style of writing, personal profiles, signature phrases...
- in this case, imitation is NOT the greatest form of flattery
5. VPS are too insecure to have confidence in their own writing, they have to 'borrow' ideas from other bloggers’ posts.
5. VPS claim credit for intellectual brilliance that do NOT belong to them.
6. VPS practices the “copy-and-paste” technique religiously.

Therefore, if you fall under the VPS category, I advice you to stop, because it is an extremely unethical thing to do. It is not right and absolutely obnoxious.

Stealing another blogger’s virtual personality is an absolute no no! It is a crime, whether or not, you are aware of it.
